Entry for November 26, 2006

I never imagined that U2 and Green Day could ever make a song together but they did. and Green Day as my favorite Rock band did a great job in this team up. billy joe and bono`s voices matched together magically and this is what I couldn`t ever imagined. “the saints are  coming” is the first cooperation of Green Day/U2 which has a magnificent lyric that got a great music too. song starts up softly just like greatest songs of U2 and then kicking into a fast and alternative rocks songs just like Green Day’s greatest songs. the song also has got a great music video by Chris Milk who I like his works very much.

The music video shows the two bands playing at the Abbey Road Studio in the New Orlean(remember katrina ruined New Orlean) intermixed with news footage of the displacement of residents after Hurricane Katrina. The second half of the video shows an alternative history in which George W. Bush redeployed troops and vehicles from Iraq to New Orleans to help victims of the hurricane, with the military personnel fulfilling the titular role of the saints. and finally The video ends with military support vehicles fading out as the camera pans to a sign that reads ‘Not as seen on TV’, and this part clearly showing the deceiving and deception of media that exaggerated rescue operation. all in all I love this team up and I think you would love it too just try it and then wish for saints to come someday even if there’s no reply😉

There is a house in new orleans
They call the rising sun
It’s been the ruin of many a poor boy
And god, i know i’m one
I cried to my daddy on the telephone
How long now
Until the clouds unroll and you come home
The line went
But the shadows still remain since your descent
Your descent

I cried to my daddy on the telephone
How long now
Until the clouds unroll and you come home
The line went
But the shadows still remain since your descent
Your descent

The saints are coming, the saints are coming
I say no matter how i try, i realise there’s no reply
The saints are coming, the saints are coming
I say no matter how i try, i realise there’s no reply

New birth to the rebirth
New orleans

Living like birds in magnolia trees
A child on a rooftop, a mother on her knees
Her sign reads
Please, i am an american

A drowning sorrow floods the deepest grief
How long now
Until a weather change condemns belief
How long now
When the night watchman lets in the thief
What’s wrong now

The saints are coming, the saints are coming
I say no matter how i try, i realise there’s no reply
The saints are coming, the saints are coming
I say no matter how i try, i realise there’s no reply
I say no matter how i try, i realise there’s no reply
I say no matter how i try, i realise there’s no reply
